I have bought a new keyboard and a new battery for Dell Inspiron 9300, but unfortunately they are on their way to my home in Pennsylvania and will be of no use to me on my trip. My battery died exactly one week after the warranty on it expired, and as I posted yesterday, the “b” key on my keyboard has given up the ghost. This dead key is in addition to the dead “alt” key on the left side of the spacer bar. You can see this in the picture below.
The only way to get either key to work, which they will intermittently since I removed the key covers, is to poke at them until the letter appears on the screen or the desired effect takes place. Of course, I do have an extra “alt” key, but with the “b” key, as often as not I end up with between 4-6 of the offending letters on the screen, which I then have to delete (except for the lone letter I desire). So you can see my gentle readers the trouble I am now going to just so you read about my not too exciting adventures.
In other news this evening marks the beginning of the ThinSpace gathering. We start with dinner at six. I am really looking forward to meeting some new people who are deeply interested in spiritual matters. I’ll let you know how the first session goes later tonight or tomorrow.
For now I will close with a picture taken in the heart of downtown Wilmington. It is of the Buckley Brothers grain elevators. When I first saw these “towers” over 20 years ago, the words of the song “Footloose” came immediately to mind, and I saw visions of Kevin Bacon dancing on the streets of Wilmington. For whatever reason, whenever I see this landmark to this day, I still hear the twangy guitar and the words:
