Will Humes
follower of Jesus, father, pastor
Pastor-First United Methodist Church, Pottstown, PA
Consultant-Church Renewal and Con
I am a follower of Jesus, have been an United Methodist pastor for 30 years, and am blessed with a beautiful 20 year old daughter. More than any other factors, these three things define who I am.
Later this year I will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of my 29th birthday. I’d like to think that I am older than I look, and younger than I feel.
A few of my interests include pottery (I have my own wheel and kiln and am learning), photography, books, movies, music. I am a fan of University of Kentucky Basketball, Eastern Kentucky University Football, and the Philadelphia Eagles.

“Listen to your life. See it for the fathomless mystery that it is. In the boredom and pain of it no less than in the excitement and gladness: touch, taste, smell your way to the holy and hidden heart of it because in the last analysis all moments are key moments, and life itself is grace.” – Frederick Buechner

“You can safely assume that you’ve created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do.” – Anne Lamott

“When I die I shall see myself as I’ve never seen myself before, I shall see myself in the light of God’s truth. That may not be very comfortable at all. Sometimes I feel afraid of it . . . All can do is trust that God already sees that truth and already loves me. So even when I see myself in the most unattractive light, God is still love. Can I accept that? We’ll see when I die.” – Rowan Williams

“Even after all this time the sun never says to the earth, “You owe me.” Look what happens with a love like that. It lights the whole sky.” – Hafiz

“Did St. Francis really preach to the birds? Whatever for? If he really liked birds he would have done better to preach to the cats.” – Rebecca West

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. And from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.” (John 1:14,16)

“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” (Romans 5:1-5)
